William Hinckle, Sr.

William Frederick Hinckle, Sr., age 89, of Tollgate Ridge Road, died Saturday February 13, 2010 at his home.
Born November 7, 1920 in Hancock, MD., he was the son of the late Otis and Florence Hovermale Hinckle.

He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He owned and operated Hinckle Motors, Hancock, MD, for 44 years.
He was a school bus driver for the Hancock area schools.
He was a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, Hancock, MD.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hancock, MD.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Marie Dorrier Hinckle, who he married September 20, 1941 in Hancock, MD.; one son, William Frederick Hinckle, Jr. and wife Susan; one daughter, Linda Dean Howell and husband Arlo of Hancock, MD.; daughter-in-law, Diane Hinckle of Hancock, MD.; two sisters, Ruth Alta Kain of NY., Anna Lou Leighty of NJ.; one brother, Garth Hinckle of Great Cacapon, WV.; twelve grandchildren, Greg Howell and wife Kim, Kevin Howell and friend Elena, Kenny Howell and wife Vicki, Jeffery Hinckle and wife Michelle, Bryan Hinckle and wife Cassandra, Angie Clingerman and husband Dave, Travis Hinckle and wife Tammy, Bradley Hinckle and wife Elaine, Christy Childers and husband Mike, Harley, Dustin and Lance Hinckle; fifteen great-grandchildren, Derick Clingerman and wife Danielle, Bethani and Kaitlyn Howell, Damien, Elizabeth and Tiffany Hinckle, Allyson and Cody Childers, Emily and Sydney Howell, Harrison, Louise, Analiegh and D.J. Hinckle, Dustin Thomas; seven great-great-grandchildren, Kylee, Kamrynn and Kaiden Clingerman, Karlie and Karmyn Marro, Jayden Howell and Caydence Thomas. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Franklin Hinckle and Gerald Mifflin Hinckle; two brothers, Shannon and Claytus Hinckle; one sister, Catherine Douglas.

A service will be held Thursday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Resley Road, Hancock, MD. Rev. Kenneth Stotlemyer will officiate. Burial, with a military service by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, MD. Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and at the church one-half hour prior to the service on Thursday.
