William "Bill" Frederick Hinckle, Jr.

William “Bill” Frederick Hinckle Jr., of Hancock, Maryland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2026.

Born April 15, 1942, in Hancock, Maryland, he was the son of the late Fred and Helen Dorrier Hinckle.

Bill was a 1960 graduate of Hancock High School and worked for 45 years with the family business, Hinckle Motors. He was also a school bus contractor for 35 years and served as a Volunteer EMS responder

In his later years, Bill and his wife, Sue, moved to Georgia to be closer to their son and grandchildren. He continued his working life there as a county school bus driver, including driving for special-needs children.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his kind, steady nature, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren—attending their events, gathering with family, and sharing weekends together.

Bill was a man of faith and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hancock, Maryland. After moving to Georgia, he attended Trinity Lutheran Church under the ministry of Pastor Timothy Davis in Athens, Georgia.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Hinckle, (Michelle) his grandchildren, Harrison Hinckle (Amber), Louise Hinckle; and his great-grandson, Hudson William Hinckle. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Dean Howell; his sister-in-law, Linda McCarty; his special daughter-in-law, Patty Ward; and his niece, Melissa Crampton.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Susan Weaver Hinckle and his brothers, Richard and Gerald Hinckle.

Viewing will be Monday, February 16, 2026 — 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Maryland.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, February 17, 2026 — 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3738 Resley Road, Hancock, Maryland. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hancock, Maryland.

His family rejoices in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
