Walter Eugene “Mickey” McDonough, age 92, of Flintstone, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Western Maryland Health System, in Cumberland, Md.

Born March 8, 1921, in Brownsville, Pa., he was the son of the late James Albert and Arnetta Bell Hillen McDonough.

He was retired from the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of WWII, and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was also retired from the Maryland State Department of Corrections.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, in Hancock, Md.

He is survived by his wife, Marie L. Ondrish McDonough, whom he married February 4, 1950; and one sister, Nellie Brooks, of East Millsboro, Pa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, on Friday, March 15, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 East High Street, Hancock, Md. Rev. John Lombardi will be the celebrant. Burial, with a military service, will be in the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, in Flintstone, Md.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
