Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania
Troy Dalton Large Sr., age 78, a resident of Berkeley Springs Rehab and Nursing, and formerly of Warfordsburg, died Friday, December 16, 2011, at the facility.
Born April 3, 1933, in Clintwood, Va., he was the son of the late Garland and Ivis Mullen Large, and the husband of Elizabeth Ann (Farmer) Large, of Warfordsburg, Pa.
He was formerly employed with the Dept. of Natural Resources on the C & O Canal, as a restoration carpenter. He was with the C & O Canal Park Service for 18 years.
He loved carpentry, and the outdoors, and was an avid hunter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by children, Terry Savanah Cubbage, of Warfordsburg, Troy Dalton Large, Jr., of Warfordsburg, and Alan Randolph Large, of Warfordsburg, Garland Burg Large, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; sisters, Gail Smith, of Baltimore, Md., and Pat Brown, of Hebron, Md.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Large; and one sister, Dwane Gordon.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md., Monday, December 19, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in the Lake View Memorial Park, in Sykesville, Md., on Tuesday, December 20 2011, at 12:00 noon.
