In Loving Memory of Theresa Mary Messersmith

12/05/1967 - 6/20/2025

It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Theresa Messersmith, age 57, who tragically lost her life in a motor vehicle accident on June 20, 2025, in Berkeley Springs, WV.

Theresa was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and a cherished friend to many. Known for her kind spirit, bright smile, and unwavering love for others. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and faith.

Born on December 5th, 1967, in Baltimore, Maryland. Theresa was a woman whose life overflowed with love, faith, and kindness. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends, always offering a listening ear, a warm hug, or homemade treats fresh from her bakery. Her love for baking wasn’t just a hobby- it was one of the many ways she shared her heart. Whether it was her famous cheesecake or cookies, she always made people feel at home and cared for.

She had a deep passion for broadcasting and poured her heart into her work at her beloved radio stations. Whether on the air or behind scenes, she found great joy in connecting with her listeners and being a voice of comfort, encouragement, and truth. Her dedication to the station and its mission was a reflection of her larger devotion to uplifting those around her. Theresa and Arlin's partnership has been instrumental in their mission to expand Defender & Splendor of Truth Radio. With the continued guidance of the holy spirit, her beloved husband, Arlin, will carry on to complete the vital mission of Defender & Splendor.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Theresa was an active and cherished member of her church community. Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her actions and filling her days with purpose and grace. She brought that same warmth and care to all God’s creatures, especially her animals, whom she loved dearly and treated with compassion.

Theresa was a professed member of the Secular Order of Mt. Carmel and a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament community in Hagerstown, MD.

She lived her life with gentleness, humility, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. Her laughter, faith, and loving spirit will be remembered and cherished always.

Theresa was deeply loved by her devoted husband, Arlin, who was her constant source of strength, comfort, and unwavering support. Their love was a beautiful example of partnership and commitment- rooted in faith and friendship. Together they built a life filled with warmth, shared dreams, and lasting memories. Theresa cherished every moment spent by his side, and their bond was one that brought joy, not only to each other, but to everyone who witnessed it. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in his heart, but her love will remain with him always.

She is survived by her loving husband, Arlin; her three children: Joe, Lance (Journie), and Seth. She was a proud grandmother (Nonna) to Cole Tepper and a proud Aunt to Andy Ledergerber. Theresa is also survived by her loving mother, Joann M. Tepper, her sister Monica Ledergerber, her Aunts; MariaElena “Tootsie” Whitlow and MaryLou Mcllhenney.
