Terry Lee Appel, age 61, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at the UPMC Western Maryland, in Cumberland, Md. “Gone but not forgotten”
Born October 7, 1958, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Doris L. (Boone) Appel and John W. Appel, Sr.; and the husband of Mary Lorraine (Ashkettle) Appel, whom he married June 7, 1986.
He was a 1976 graduate of Flintstone High School, in Flintstone, Md.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic church, in Hancock, Md. and St. Patrick Catholic church, in Little Orleans, Md.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1978 to 1981; and was employed for eighteen years as a prison guard at MCI, in Hagerstown Md.
He enjoyed fishing and volunteering as an EMT and firefighter for the Hancock and Little Orleans Fire Companies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Irma Louise Gregory and her husband, Coty A. Gregory, of Needmore, Pa., Crystal Lynn Appel and her fiancé, Cody Lee Golden, of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Kendra Lorraine Appel, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four grandchildren, J.D. and Gunner Gregory and Jennifer and Elisa Golden; two sisters, Debrah Morgan and Kathy Reed; three brothers, Randy “Red” Appel, John W. Appel, Jr., and Larry Appel; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church at a later date.
