Little Orleans, Maryland

Sue Emogene Singleton departed this world to be with her Lord and Savior, on April 14, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.  Born on February 11, 1949, Sue was preceded in death by her parents, George Carl and Alta Coonrod, and her sister, Brenda Coonrod.

Sue leaves behind her husband of 45 years, G. Lynn Singleton, of Little Orleans, Md.; and four children, Arlie Singleton and his wife, Treva, of St. Louis, Mo., Timothy Singleton and his wife, Linda, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Wanda Singleton, of Hagerstown, Md., and April Singleton, of Hancock, Md.; and eight sisters, Naomi Clingerman, Alma (Sister) Younker, Anna Carlene Eaton, Wilda Reed, Martha Wilhide, Violet Geist, Lois Shives, and Joan Blankley.  Her loving family has the deep assurance that they will be reunited with Sue in heaven.

Sue was a homemaker, staying home to raise four rambunctious children who fondly remember Sue making home-made donuts on snow days.  Sue took great pleasure in the simple things of life---going to church, walking, biking on the C&O Canal, playing games with her family, bird-watching, reading, and (when she was younger) chopping firewood!  On January 16, 1969, Sue and her husband, Lynn, chose to follow Christ, repented of their sins, and became Christians.  She was a member of Hancock Assembly of God and volunteered with Mount Hope Prison Ministry, where she was one of the original board members.

Services for Sue will be held at the Hancock Assembly of God, 431 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock, Md., on Wednesday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Don Preston and Rev. R.D. Smith, Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Catalpa United Methodist Cemetery, in Hancock, Md.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Hancock Assembly of God Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Mount Hope Prison Ministry, 25 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740, or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

Online condolences will be accepted at www.grovefh.com
