Steven James Smith

Steven J. Smith, 76, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Hagerstown, MD.

Born June 8, 1949, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Paul and Frieda Bible Smith, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Nancy Kolb Smith of Hagerstown, MD; two sons, Matthew and wife Cheryl Smith of Hedgesville, WV, and Joshua Smith of Hagerstown, MD; three grandchildren, James, Adam, and Claire; one brother, Paul and wife Cheryl Smith of Little Orleans, MD; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steven was a graduate of Flintstone High School class of 1967 and a graduate of Frostburg University.

He was the Director of The Potomac Center Hagerstown, MD, retiring after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the Funkstown American Legion, Post 211.

Steven enjoyed traveling, hunting, and playing cards with friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 1:00p.m. at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. A gathering of friends will be held one hour prior to Steven’s Memorial Service. Pastor Josh Rider will officiate.
