Artemas, Pennsylvania
Stephen Ellsworth Jenkins, age 58, of Artemas, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, in Cumberland, Md.
Born July 21, 1958, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Truman and Ruth (Winfield) Jenkins, and the husband of Lavena (Fogle) Jenkins for eighteen years.
He was employed as a HVACR mechanic and master electrician by Frederick County, Md. Building Maintenance, and he was a co-owner of Sharp Tooth Kennels, in Artemas.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA; the president of the Tri-State Coonhunters Association, in Eckhart Mines, Md.; a member of the Tri-State Houndsman Association; and a former member of the SugarLoaf Mountain Coonhunters Association. He raised and trained the old LonePine Treeing Walker Coonhounds; and he was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Jason Jenkins and wife, Arlene, of Artemas, and Benjamin Swope, of Bedford, Pa.; one granddaughter, Isabella Jenkins, of Artemas; two brothers, Mike Eavey, of Thurmont, Md., and William Eavey, of Conowingo, Md.; two sisters, Linda Buswell, of Cody, Wy., and Diane Wise of Fairfield, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Suzanne Fulkner.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Robert Snyder will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
