Stanley Ernest Snyder, age 82, of Little Orleans, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland, Md.

Born March 25, 1929, at Green Ridge Station, Md., he was the son of the late David Sylvester and Harriet Susan (Twigg) Snyder.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He retired in 1991 from the CSX Railroad, after forty-four years of service as a machine operator.

He was an avid hunter, and loved spending time with his great-grandson, Collin.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Almeeta Rose (McDonald) Snyder, whom he married on December 18, 1950; children, Robin Ann Conrad and husband, Larry Allen Conrad, Sr., of Artemas, Pa., Pamela Louise McCarty and husband, Richard Omar McCarty, Sr., of Hampton, Va., Douglas Ernest Snyder and wife, Teresa Lynne (Johns) Snyder, of Little Orleans, Md., and Tracey Leo Snyder, of Flintstone, Md.; a special nephew, Christopher Robinette, of Bridgeton, N.J.; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his family. He was preceded in death by brothers, Albert Snyder, Eugene Snyder, Johnny Snyder, David Snyder, Leonard Snyder, Robert Snyder and James Snyder; sisters, Dorothy Kessler, Lillian Snyder, Sarah Snyder, Gladys Roy, and Effie Hebb; one grandson, Larry Allen Conrad, Jr.; and one daughter-in-law, Launa Jean (Weimer) Snyder.

A service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home in Hancock, Md. Rev. Fred Parker will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Artemas, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3 to 5:00 and 6 to 8:00 p.m.
