Shirley Maxine Souders, age 79, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away Monday, May 6, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born June 3, 1933, in Buck Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ethel Sigel and Hetzel Iames.

She graduated from Southern Fulton High School in 1952.

She was a lifelong member of the Buck Valley Zion Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three children, Dwain Souders and wife, Linda, of Warfordsburg, Pa., Jeffrey Souders, of Falling Waters, W.Va., Connie Mellott and husband, Mark, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Jedediah Souders, Bethany Ramsey, Zachary Mellott, Lucas Mellott, and Cody Souders; and three great-grandchildren, Abigail Souders, MacKinlay and Miyah Ramsey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Souders, whom she married on June 12, 1952, in Hagerstown, Md., and who died on March 27, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10, at 11:00 a.m., at the Buck Valley Zion Lutheran Church, 5739 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, Pa. The Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Thursday, from 3 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the Church on Friday.
