Sherman Sauter

Sherman Edward Sauter, age 80, of Warfordsburg, Pa., died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at his home.

Born Saturday, January 25, 1936, in Essex, Md., he was the son of John Henry, Sr. and Gertha (Daniels) Sauter; and the husband of Mary Faye (Bradshaw) Sauter, whom he married November 26, 1966.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years.

He retired from his employment at Hagerstown Kitchens Custom Cabinetry, in Hagerstown, Md.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Faye Sauter; a son, Brett Sherman Sauter, of Warfordsburg; a daughter, Julie Ann Curtis and husband, Gregory, of Warfordsburg; two brothers, Richard Gerald Sauter, and Craig Ronald Sauter, both of Warfordsburg; a sister, Mary Lois White, of Delaware; five grandchildren, Dane, Ruth, Charles, James and John; and one great-grandchild, Kyle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Raymond; and three sisters, Dorothy, Elsie and Gertha.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 200 Douglas Street, Hancock, Md., on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Gerald L. Hendershot will officiate. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Grove Road, Warfordsburg, where military rites will be conducted by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, December 12, 2016, from 6 until 8:00 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
