Roy Mark McKee, 76, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at his beloved farm in Hancock, MD.

Mark, as he has always been called, was born on August 11, 1946, and was the first born of Roy E. McKee and Vivian Tedrick McKee.

Mark is survived by his sister, Becky Cline, and brother-in-law, Roland, of Hancock, MD. and Greenville SC.; special nephews: Matt Cline, his wife, Laura, and their 3 children, Colton, Reagan and Andrew, of Eldersburg, MD, and Brad Cline, his wife, Elizabeth, and their 2 children, Jacob and Julia, of Clermont-Ferrand, France.; his devoted caregivers, Derek McBee, Debbie Reed, and his Golden Retrievers, Punky and Gracie.

Mark graduated from Hancock High School, Class of 1964, and soon after, enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his first year at Patrick AF Base, Cocoa Beach, FL, and then was assigned overseas in the 49th Tactical Fighter Wing, at Spangdalem AF Base, Germany.

He was a very active, lifetime member of The Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club and the Safari Club.

He was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church.

After spending several years in Cocoa Beach, FL, Mark returned to his home in Hancock, MD. He was employed by Dyer Masonry while building the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, MD. After the mall was completed, he was hired as the Maintenance Direction because he knew every inch of the building. He kept that job for many years and even helped open the Country Club Mall in Cumberland, MD.

Mark purchased a 100-acre farm west of Hancock in 1983 and inherited his first Golden Retriever, Chase. His love for the Golden Retriever breed grew. He built a large fenced in, heated kennel and developed a special dog breeding business. He also bought, renovated, rented and sold many properties throughout the local area.

He loved anything John Deere, organization, antiques, especially lamps, Chevy Trucks, his 1972 El Camino and a few other things that shouldn’t be mentioned.

Over the years, Breezy Knoll Farm has become a place for many to enjoy hunting, target shooting, delicious homemade foods, as well as country ham and venison, card playing, sharing pranks and stories, building a strong camaraderie among friends and enjoying the joy and love of the outdoors. Mark now leaves this beautiful, immaculate legacy that will be continued by another generation of families and outdoorsmen.

There will be a Celebration of Mark’s Life held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 2-4 pm, at Jimmy Joy’s Log Cabin, 7536 Millstone Road, Hancock, MD.
