Robert L. Shoemaker, age 82, of Hancock, Md., passed away at his home on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
Born February 19, 1939, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Robert and Wyoma (Shoemaker) Younker. He was the widower of Elton Louise (Price) Shoemaker, whom he married on January 8, 1960 at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, and who passed away May 31, 2016.
He was a graduate of James Buchanan High School, in Mercersburg, Pa.
He had been employed by the Maryland State Highway Administration Testing Lab, in Hancock; and later was an Inspector for the Washington County Liquor Control Board.
He was a member of the Berkeley Springs Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483; and the Potomac Fish and Game Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Robin L. Carbaugh and her husband, Scott, of Hancock; three grandchildren, Sydney E. Weller, Brandon S. Carbaugh, and Brianna C. Clanton; and three great-grandchildren, Addison Sabine, Landon Standifer, and Kallen Carbaugh.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew S. Ward.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Hancock Presbyterian Church, 17 East Main Street, Hancock, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Terry Martin-Minnich. Burial will follow in the Stone Bridge Brethren Church cemetery, on Hollow Road, Hancock.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren cemetery fund, c/o Patsy Moats, 14536 Little Cove Road, Mercersburg, PA 17236; or to Tonoloway Primitive Baptist cemetery fund; c/o Ronnie E. Michael, 530 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Hancock, MD 21750.
