Robert J. “Bob” McGuire, age 74, of Warfordsburg, went to be with
the Lord Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital,
in Baltimore, Md.
Born at home on January 9, 1938, in Cresson, Pa., he was the son
of the late Bernard and Helen Lilly McGuire.
He served with the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963.
He was a 1956 graduate of Cresson High School, and attended St. Francis
University, at Loretto, Pa.
He was an Associate Engineer for AT&T for 10 years. He was self-employed
as co-owner/operator of McGuire’s Builders, Inc., and part-owner of Tri-State
Trusses, Inc., in Warfordsburg, Pa. He was the Building and Ground Supervisor
for Fulton County Medical Center for 6 years; and he served on the Southern Fulton
School Board, and County Vo-Tech School Board.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, in Hancock, Md., and a member of
American Legion Post # 0561, in McConnellsburg, Pa.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marjorie M. (Smith) McGuire; two
daughters, Kelly Hockenberry and husband, Joe, of Coplay, Pa., and Maureen Litton
and husband, Ryan, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa.; grandchildren, Brayden and
Connor Litton, and Evan and Derek Hockenberry. He is also survived by
nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
An hour of visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with reflections at 10:45 by family,
friends, and Pastor Gene Harding, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial
at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, on Monday, July 23. Rev. John Lombardi
will be celebrant. Following the mass, a burial with a military service by the Tri-State
Honor Guard, will be at the Jerusalem Christian Cemetery, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.,
at the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md.
As a gesture of Bob’s kind, generous, and loving character, the family would
like to thank all in the community that have always been supportive in prayer
and kindness over the past years. Bob lived with God as the center of his life,
loved his wife as Christ loves the church, and raised his children to know and
love God.
