Richard J. Powers

Richard J. Powers, age 85, of Hancock, MD, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Hagerstown, MD.

Born Monday, July 1, 1940, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Judson and Geraldine Sipes Powers.

Richard was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School Class of 1960. He was employed by Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD, retiring in 2002 after forty years of service. He coached Hancock Little League for twenty-five years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed watching Alabama football and his beloved New York Jets. Most of all, Richard enjoyed spending quality and precious time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Norma (Jean) Powers of Hancock, MD; one son Kirk Richard Powers of Hancock, MD; one grandson, Bryan Powers and wife Britley of Hancock, MD; one granddaughter, Amanda Powers of Hancock, MD; three great-grandchildren, Gage, Fletcher, and Kamiyah; and three special nieces, Angie Fox, Kasi Boyer, and Erin Mills.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one brother, Bill Powers, and one sister Carolyn Gaither.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
