Reuben Ernest Faith, 86, of Maugansville, MD., departed this life on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.
Born March 24, 1935, in Hancock, MD., he was the son of the late Pr.Eld. Ernest and Sr.Mtr. Catherine Geronimo Faith. He was married to Sr.Mtr. Beverly Burke Faith for 62 years before she preceded him in death in 2016.
Adv.Pr.Eld Reuben was a member of the The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob since birth. He served God with a willing heart in whatever capacity he was asked. He became an Ordained Minister in 1973, and in the early 1980’s, he was elevated to Advanced Presiding Elder, and was also given the title of Special Agent to Father J. Daniel Israel, J.O.G. He took his church work very seriously, serving in several capacities in the Church auxiliaries. Many recall how Adv.Pr.Eld Reuben let God work through him as their pastor in the Hagerstown, MD. Congregation. He willingly gave of his time and energy, spiritually and physically. He was instrumental in finding a Church building for the Saints to worship God. Before that time, he and his wife, Sr.Mtr. Beverly, opened their home for service, turning a portion of the home into a place of worship.
Adv.Pr.Eld Reuben was also blessed with the talent of woodworking and refinishing furniture. He worked at the Statton Furniture Company for many years. One of his proudest accomplishments was refinishing the pews in our First Tabernacle. Later in life, he worked as a security guard at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, MD where he was a friendly face and a kind word to everyone.
Adv.Pr.Eld Reuben loved his daughters, their husbands, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely! They fondly called him “Poppy”. He was not a selfish man but was very giving all of his life. He had a way to make you smile and comfortable to talk to and receive a wise word of advice, even with his special humor.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis and Levi Faith, and a sister, Seleatha Munson.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Karen Prather, and her husband, Dr. Richard Prather, and Diana Penrod, and her husband, Brett Penrod; seven grandchildren-Bradley, Stephanie, Beth, John, Daniel, Laura and Kathleen; 15 great-grandchildren; and a special lifelong friend, Helen Golden.
