Phyllis Evelyn (Seavolt) Norris, 83, of Little Orleans, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in Cumberland, Maryland.
Born on Tuesday, March 3, 1942, in Hancock, Maryland, Phyllis lived most of her life in Little Orleans, where she built a legacy of family devotion and community service.
Phyllis graduated from Hancock High School in Maryland with the class of 1960. She worked as a secretary for the family business, Norris Building, contributing her organizational skills and dedication to its success for forty-eight years.
A woman of faith, she was a longtime member of Piney Plains United Methodist Church and served as a leader in the Piney Plains Methodist Women's group, where she inspired others through her commitment and kindness.
She enjoyed watching her grand and great-grandchildren play sports. She was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terps fan.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Dorthea Yvonne Hull of Hancock; her three children: Greg (Pam) Norris of Little Orleans, Maryland, Valerie (Mark) Hornbaker of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, and Patrick (Lura) Norris of Hancock; her eleven grandchildren: Ashley (James) Divelbiss, Todd (Stephanie) Norris, Beth (George) Keidel, Deidre (Allen) Omps, Mia (Corey) Cohen , Andy (Danielle) Norris, Rachel (Josh) Norris, Chloey Norris, Charleigh Norris, Logan Norris, and Jocelyn Norris; and her fifteen great-grandchildren: Brock Divelbiss, Weston Divelbiss, Brooks Keidel, Bennett Keidel, Roman Omps, Meredith Omps, Jude Cohen, Nora Cohen, Wyatt Paugh, Amber Norris, Brantley Norris, Ella Norris, Brady Wilt, Montana Dilley, and Gunner Trail.
In addition to her parents, Grant Seavolt and Opal Powell, she was proceeded in death by her brother Edsel Seavolt and husband Carl Norris.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Piney Plains United Methodist Church in Little Orleans, Maryland with two-hour prior visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pastor Josh Rider will officiate. Burial will follow at Piney Plains church cemetery.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her spirit of faith and love will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
