Merill Palmer Gordon, age 82, of Needmore, Pa., passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Born Friday, March 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Clarence Lester and Mildred Naomi (Brady) Gordon, and the husband for 54 years of Kathryn I. (Sigel) Gordon, whom he married on October 26, 1963 at the Needmore Methodist Church.

He attended the Bedford Chapel Church, in Needmore, and the Hancock Assembly of God, in Hancock, Md.

He was a 1953 graduate of Warfordsburg High School, in Warfordsburg, Pa.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; and retired from working as a self-employed sawmill operator.

He was a former member of the Southern Fulton School Board.

Merill enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, and blue grass music.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by two daughters, Sandra Lynn Crouse and husband, Gary, and Lisa Meryl Fischer and husband, Keith, all of Needmore; brothers-in-law, George, Dale and Paul Sigel, all of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Donnie Sigel, of Greencastle, Pa.; four grandchildren, Megan Sandra Mellott and husband, Darin, Macy Lynn Crouse, Abigail Kathleen Fischer, and Mason Gordon Fischer, all of Needmore; one great-grandson, Graham Gary Mellott, also of Needmore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Robert Sigel.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the Hancock Assembly of God, 431 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Hancock, Md., from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Services will be held at the church on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Donald Preston and Rev. Richard Bernhard will officiate. Burial will follow at the Antioch Christian Cemetery, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
