Mary R. McFadden, age 86, of Needmore, died at her home on Thursday, September 18, 2014, after a long illness. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her children and several of her grandchildren.

She was born April 29, 1928, on Sipes Mill Road, Harrisonville, Pa. She was united in marriage with Charles I. McFadden, Sr. on March 3, 1945.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pleasant DeShong and Myrtle Keefer DeShong; her husband of 68 years, Charles I. McFadden, Sr.; three grandchildren, Sean McFadden, grandson of Clarence and Mary Sue McFadden, Miriam Strait and Michael Strait, Jr., children of Patsy and Michael Strait, Sr.; two sisters, Dottie Oakman and Hyacinth Mellott; and son-in-law, Timmy L. Strait, Sr.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Charles I. McFadden, Jr. and his wife, Marcella, of Needmore, Clarence John  McFadden, Sr. and his wife, Mary Sue, of Needmore, Connie McFadden Strait, of McConnellsburg, Pa., Patsy McFadden Strait and her husband, Michael, of McConnellsburg, Pa., Timothy M. McFadden, Sr. and his wife, Linda, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., and  James P. McFadden, Sr. and his wife, Connie, of Needmore; 28 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Theda Sloat, Greta DeShong, Lottie Sheetz, and Joan Kautz; two brothers, Lindy DeShong, and Leroy Deshong; and a host of nieces; nephews; and friends.

She was a Senior Mother of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc., of which she was a member. She worshiped in the Hancock, Maryland Mission.

She worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in her early years; also Sagner, and London Fog as a presser.

She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister.

A service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc., 5516 Berm Road, Hancock, Md. Advanced Presiding Elder Mark Faith and Presiding Elder Caleb Wilt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.
