Marian Madge (Coonts) Hill, age 83, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Winchester Medical Center, in Winchester, Va.

Born November 18, 1933, in Westernport, Md., she was the daughter of the late M. French and Madge V. (Davis) Coonts. She was the wife of Jack O. Hill, Jr., for sixty years, whom she married on November 18, 1956, in Cumberland, Md.

She was a 1951 graduate of Bruce High School, in Westernport, where she was the Valedictorian of her class. In 1955 she graduated from Frostburg State Teachers College with a Bachelors degree in education.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, in Hancock.

She was employed as a teacher in the Allegany County, Baltimore County, Frederick County, and Washington County Schools.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Charmane M. Hill and Anna V. Hill-Dobbins, both of Hagerstown, Md.; two grandchildren, Jonathan Dobbins and Elizabeth Rau and her husband, Steve; three great-granddaughters; four step-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Richard Miller, of Pittsburgh, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jack O. Hill III; one son-in-law, Mitchell Dobbins; and two sisters, Thelma M. Green, of Lonaconing, Md. and Eleanor C. Miller, of Pittsburgh, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m., where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Episcopal cemetery.
