Margaret Ellen Mellott, age 80, of Needmore, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Green Ridge Village, in Newville, Pa.
Born June 3, 1933, in Warfordsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Ida Gordon Golden, and the wife of Robert Mellott, whom she married May 10, 1959, at the Hancock Assembly of God, in Hancock, Md.
She was a 1954 graduate of Southern Fulton High School, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
She retired after working seventeen years as a seamstress at Sagner, Inc. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, in Needmore.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Perry Allan Mellott, and Joseph Adam Mellott, both of Needmore; five sisters, Mary Gray, and Florence Ruppenthal, both of Needmore, Opal Morris, of Everett, Pa., Barbara Young, of Breezewood, Pa., and Rachael Snyder, of Hancock, Md.; three brothers, George Golden, of Falling Waters, W.Va., Richard Golden, of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Tracy Golden, of Hancock; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Shaw, and Nancy McCarty; and three brothers, Sylvester Golden, Raymond Golden, and Gerald Golden.
A service will be held on Wednesday, January 22,2014, at 1:00 p.m., at the Bethel Community Church. Rev. William Swope and Rev. Roger Truax will officiate. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., and at the Church on Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m.
