Manford Lee Hart, age 70, of Pectonville, Md., died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born October 4, 1942, in Pectonville, he was the son of the late Franklin M. Hart, Sr. and Daisy Margaret McCarty Hart.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Viet Nam conflict.

He was retired from the Washington County Roads Department.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a member of the James W. Bowers Lodge #173 AF & AM, and was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite with the Cumberland Consistory, the Berkeley Chapter #77 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Western Maryland Sportsman’s Club, and the Joseph C. Herbert Post #222 American Legion in Clear Spring, Md.

He is survived by his loving companion and best friend, Peggy Joan Moore, of Pectonville; one sister, Deana M. Hart Weller and husband, Floyd, of Pectonville; step-children, Cealie Smith, of Hancock, Tina Kefauver, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Vonn B. Moore, of Windham, NH; one step-grandson; one step-great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and three special great-nephews, Christian, Dylan and Cayden Weller.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Franklin M. Hart, Jr.

A service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. Pastor Scott Summers will officiate. Burial, with a military graveside honors by the Joseph C. Herbert Post 222 American Legion, will be in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool, Md.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a Masonic service by the James W. Bowers Lodge #173 AF & AM will be held at 6:30 p.m.
