Ludwell "Onsie" Onsolow Fling

Ludwell “Onsie” Onsolow Fling, 97, of Hancock, Md, passed away, Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Berkeley Springs, WV.

Born January 19, 1929, in Hancock, MD, he was the son of the late Edward and Olive Mitchell Fling.

Onsie attended Hancock Area School. He served in the United States Air Force, serving in WWII and the Korean War. He worked and retired as an aircraft mechanic at Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown, MD.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge.

Onsie had a passion for his woodworking, gardening and loved to read.

He is survived by one son, Rickey O. Fling and wife Tina of Hancock, MD; one daughter, Donna J. Risinger of Hedgesville, WV; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Dolores J. Fox Fling; one brother; and six sisters.

Viewing will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 W Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11:00a.m. with one-hour prior visitation at the Alpine Bible Church, 5181 Pious Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411. Burial will follow in the Alpine Bible Church Cemetery. Pastor Kenny Mason will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Onsie’s name can be made to the Alpine Bible Church and the Tri-State Honor Guard.
