Leona Sipes

Hancock, Maryland

Leona Ellen Sipes, age 69, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at her home.

Born February 20, 1952, in Artemas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stewart James Clingerman and Ethel Marie (Jerome) Clingerman; and the widow of Bernard Henry “Buck” Sipes, whom she married on October 8, 1983 and who died May 21, 2003.

She attended Hancock High School; and was employed by Rayloc, Manufacturing, in Hancock, for ten years.  She loved to work in her garden and spend time with her cat, Tiger.

She was survived by two sons, David W. Clingerman and his wife, Angela, of Hancock, and Timothy L. Faith and his wife, Shannon, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Derick, Brittney, Darrian, and Timothy; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Vada L. Shipe; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy A. “Sunny” Clingerman, and Harold Wayne Clingerman; and five sisters, Gladys J. Stotler, Pauline E. Boden, Alda V. Smith, Deloris I. Plotner, and Carol A. Abell.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 12:00 noon, in the St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, 3738 Resley Road, Hancock, Md., with Pastor Jonathan Laye officiating.
