Lawrence Roscoe Unger, 97 of Warfordsburg, Pa. died Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Embassy Suites Nursing Home in Huntingdon, Pa. Born January 8, 1924, he was the 3rd child of twenty children born to Calvin Unger and Martha Bishop Unger. Lawrence was a WWII survivor who served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was Honorably discharged on January 31, 1946. He later worked at General Motors in Detroit, Mi. And retired from there on January 1, 1980 and moved to Warfordsburg, Pa.
He is survived by his Beloved Daughter in Law, Pamela J. Unger of White House, Tn. Two of Lawrence’s surviving Grandchildren are his first Granddaughter, Jaime Unger-Martin of Jonesboro, Ar. As well as Rebecca Hibbs and Grandsons, Edward Unger of Cumberland, Md., and Nathan Hibbs. He is also survived by his Great Grandchildren, Ethan Unger, Brynn Martin, Keely-Diane Martin, William Martin, Hattie-Marcella Grace Martin, Finn-Lawrence Martin and Lilly Unger. Lawrence is also survived by nine living siblings, Margaret Whitacre, Anna Lee Riggleman, Mary Unger, Francis McAlee, Ethel Reynolds, Rebecca Palmer, Joseph Unger, William Unger and Mildred McKinley.
Lawrence was proceeded in death by his parents, Calvin and Martha Unger, his Beloved Wife of 65 years, Marcella McCusker Unger, his only child, a son, Jerry L. Unger and ten of his siblings.
Pallbearers will be Roger Palmer, Josh Ryder, Colin McKinley, Dylan Steiner and Thomas Riggleman JR. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marcus Martin, William Martin, Finn-Lawrence Martin, Nathan Hibbs, Remington Hibbs, Carson Tice, Edward Unger and Ethan Unger.
The viewing will be at Grove Funeral Home from 10-11am on Friday, September 3, 2021 followed by an 11am Service at Grove’s. Immediately following there will be a Graveside Service at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, Md. Military honors will be awarded to Lawrence and his flag will be presented to his Granddaughter, Jaime Unger-Martin.
