Joshua Zane Finney, age 24, of Hancock, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Big Pool, Md.
Born July 29, 1989, he was the son of Ricky and Diane (MacCumbee) Finney; the grandson of Zane and Delores (Shaw) Finney; and great-grandson of Dolly Shaw, all of Hancock.
He was a 2007 graduate of Hancock High School, and was employed by Finney's Auto Body and Corvette Restoration.
He was an Eagle Scout from Troop 15 Hancock BSA; and a member of the Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club. He greatly enjoyed his pets, Cammi, Angel and Sox. Josh was known for his contagious smile that would light up a room. On the week-ends, he could normally be found in his grandfather's garage, working on projects.
Besides his parents and grandparents, he is survived by two brothers, Che Finney and wife, Laura, of Fallston, Md., and Dylan Jordan Finney, of Hancock; one aunt, Mary Ann Mitchell and husband, David, of Hancock; two uncles, Todd Finney, of Hancock, and Larry Finney and wife, Jodi, of Hancock; and one nephew, Jordan Patrick Finney, of Fallston, Md. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Gladys MacCumbee; great-grandparents James and Louise Jordan, David and Anna Finney, and Merrill Shaw.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church, 168 West Main Street, Hancock, Md.
A service will be held on Friday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church. Fr. John Lombardi will officiate. Burial will follow at the St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Hancock.
Memorial donations, in his name, may be made to the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750, to help defray the expenses.
