Joseph Wellington Price, age 97, of Little Orleans, Md., passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, in Cumberland, Md.

Born October 16, 1920, in Little Orleans, he was the son of the late Franklin and Lillie (Norris) Price; and the husband of Dorothy (Leasure) Price, whom he was married to for seventy-seven years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in World War II.

After 37 years of employment, he retired from the Allegany County Roads Dept., where he was a supervisor. He had also worked for the Allegany County Board of Education as a school bus driver.

He had a passion for gardening and tractors.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by a son, Kenton J. Price, of Little Orleans; a granddaughter, Robin L. Carbaugh and her husband, Scott, of Hancock, Md.; 2 great-granddaughters, Sydney E. Weller, of Hancock, and Brianna Clanton, of Williamsport, Md.; a great-grandson, Brandon Carbaugh, of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and a son-in-law, Robert L. Shoemaker, of Hancock.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elton L. (Price) Shoemaker; five brothers, Webster Price, Irvin Price, Roy Price, James Price and Benjamin Price; a sister, Fanny Skidmore; and a great-grandson, Matthew Ward.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock Presbyterian Church, 17 East Main Street, Hancock, Md. Pastor Terry Martin-Minnich will officiate. Burial will follow in the Piney Plains Methodist Cemetery, in Little Orleans, Md., with military honors conducted by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 8, 2018, from 6 until 8:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., and for a half hour prior to the service at the Church on Tuesday.
