John Jack Smith, Sr., age 75, of Hagerstown, died on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at NMS Healthcare, in Hagerstown.

Born August 29, 1940, in Hancock, he was the son of the late James R. and Margaret E. Smith, and the husband of Barbara (Ruck) Smith, of Hagerstown.

He was a veteran of the US Army.

He was formerly employed by Fountainhead Country Club, in Hagerstown.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sophia Smith, Veronica Smith and Amanda Smith, all of Hagerstown; one son, John J. Smith, Jr., of Hagerstown; two sisters, Patricia Smith Webster, of Hyattsville, Md., and Gladys Dotson, of Hagerstown; four brothers, Donald Smith, of Frederick, Md., Hubert Smith, of Warren, Oh., Stanley Smith, of St. Louis, Mo., and Leo Smith, of Hancock.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Brooks; and three brothers, James R. Smith, Fred Smith, and Paul Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 East High Street, Hancock. Rev. John Lombardi will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
