John Reed Beatty, age 56, of Needmore, Pa., died on Friday, November 21, 2014, at his home.

Born September 28, 1958, he was the son of the late John S. Beatty, and Sally Beatty Garland, and step-father, Harry Lee Garland, of Needmore.

He was a 1976 graduate of Southern Fulton High School.

He was employed as a truck driver for Wal-Mart Transportation, in Mount Crawford, Va., and formerly for Rayloc.

He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association; the NRA; and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.

He was a member of Needmore Bible Church.

Besides his mother and step-father, he is survived by his wife, Lisa M. Younker Beatty, whom he married August 14, 1982, in the Hancock United Methodist Church; two sons, John W. Beatty and wife, Erin, of Needmore, and Michael E. Beatty and wife, Brittany, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; one daughter, Kimberli B. Beatty, at home; three sisters, Jackie Porterfield and husband, Rev. Dan Porterfield, of Harrisonville, Pa., Kelly Miller and husband, Ray, of Needmore, and Deidi Ritz and husband, Jimmy, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; step-sister, Penny Weist, of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Todd Beatty and wife, Billie Jo, of Needmore; one step-brother, Dave Garland and wife, Yvonne, of McConnellsburg, Pa.; and three grandsons, Austin Golden, John A. Beatty and Luke R. Beatty.

A service will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore, Pa. The Rev. Doug Poffenberger will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Needmore Bible Church Mission Fund, 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore, Pa. 17238.

Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md.
