Joan Loretta McCusker

Joan L. McCusker, age 85, of Big Pool, MD, passed away peacefully at Doey’s House, Hagerstown, MD, on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Born, February 7, 1940, in Great Cacapon, WV, she was the daughter of the late Boyce Powell and Elsie Unger.

She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church, Big Pool, MD. She was a graduate of Hancock High School.

Joan enjoyed playing bingo and family card games.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lester McCusker; four sons, Timothy McCusker and wife Mary of Hancock, MD, Gregory McCusker of Clear Spring, MD, David McCusker and wife Bonnie of South Carolina, Eric McCusker and wife Beth of Williamsport, MD; one daughter, Cynthia Thomas and husband Rick of Big Pool, MD; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister Marlene Vlasach.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son Roger McCusker; one daughter-in-law Vicky McCusker, one grandson Travis McCusker; one brother Jim Powell; and one sister, Frances Barthalow.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 12:00p.m. with visitation two hours prior at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. Pastor Len Horst will officiate. Burial will follow at Shanktown Cemetery at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church, Big Pool, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s name may be made to Doey’s House, 11370 Caring Pathway Ln, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
