Janet A. Fisher,89, born November 2, 1936, entered the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday February 24, 2026, at Filcare Home in Clear Spring, Maryland. She lived a life marked by devotion, quiet strength, and a deep, steady love that shaped the many lives connected to hers. She was the daughter of the late L. Paul Hoffman and Hilda Imphong Hoffman, whose values of faith, kindness, and family devotion she carried throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a brother R. Mark Hoffman.
Janet was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hancock and graduated from Hancock High school.
Janet married Carroll Weller, in 1953. Together they built a young family rooted in love until Carroll’s passing in December 1963. In 1976, Janet married Herbert Fisher, with whom she shared many years of partnership until his passing in 1987. Through Herbert, her family grew even larger, and she embraced his children as her own.
She was the devoted mother of three children: Jeannette Weller Moats, married to Paul Moats, Jr., Sharon Weller Shives, married to David Shives, and Dennis Weller, married to Deb Weller.
Through her marriage to Herbert, she was also a loving stepmother to: Dianna Fisher Kincaid, married to Doug Kincaid, and Paul Fisher, who passed away in 2025
Janet spent many years as a skilled seamstress at London Fog, in Hancock where her precision and artistry were widely admired. She later brought her talent to custom drapery design, first with Sears and then with Maidstone’s in Hagerstown. Her work brightened countless homes as she continued to make custom draperies in her home, each piece crafted with pride, care, and her unmistakable attention to detail.
Janet’s greatest joy was her family. She is remembered with deep affection by her grandchildren: Stephen Kincaid, Stacy Morris, Ben Shives, Kyrstin Rohm, Erin Sutton, Amber Shatzer‑Moats, Scott Weller, Melette Patterson, Michael Fisher, and Amber Torres.
Her grandchildren will forever carry with them the memory of her unconditional love, her gentle encouragement, and the comfort of her steady presence. Janet’s legacy continues through her thirteen great‑grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Janet will be remembered for her warmth, and the way she made every person feel welcome. Her home was a place of comfort—filled with the smell of fresh baked pies, and the hum of a sewing machine. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special, and for showing love not just in words, but in the countless small acts of care she offered freely.
Her life was a testament to devotion: to her family, to her work, and to the simple, meaningful moments that make a life full. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hancock, MD. Interment will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3738 Resley Road, Hancock, MD 21750.
