Irene Kerns Sheppard

Artemas, Pennsylvania

Irene Bell (Kerns) Sheppard, age 87, of Artemas, Pa., and formerly of Hancock, Md., passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Doey’s House, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born July 13, 1932, in Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Ida G. (Barnhart) Kerns; and the widow of Edward Nolan Sheppard.

She was a member of the Long Hollow Church, in Hancock; and also the Hancock Lioness Club.

She enjoyed making crafts and quilting at the Hancock Senior Center.

She is survived by four daughters, Margaret Conrad and her husband, Lloyd, of Artemas, Ada Willard and her husband, Carl, of Smithsburg, Md., Brenda Sheppard, and Jeanette Shephard; three sons, William Sheppard, of Hustontown, Pa., Clyde W. Sheppard, of Williamsport, Md., and Gary Lee Sheppard; and several grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia A. Smith; and one grandson, Richard Smith.

Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md.
