Holley Elizabeth Appel, 36, of Hancock, MD, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Born Saturday, September 23, 1989, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of Dwayne and Kathy Funk of Hancock, MD.
Holley was a graduate of Hancock High School, Class of 2007. She went on to gain a two-year degree in Early Childhood Education from Frostburg University. She was the assistant manager at Jimmy Joy’s Log Cabin for fourteen years.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving husband of ten years, John Appel; two sisters, Olivia Swadley and husband Benjamin of Needmore, PA, and Leah Yonker and husband Chad of Warfordsburg, PA; one brother, Ryan Funk and wife Candace of Warfordsburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews – her babies.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Fayetta Egolf and her paternal grandfather, Robert Lee Funk.
Holley’s favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, camping at the river, vacations with family and friends, and float trips. She spent endless hours working alongside her dad, who she adored, in the meat shop and tending to the animals she loved. She enjoyed spending evenings with her husband watching movies and baking. She loved cooking holiday meals for her family. She loved her babies and spoiled them as often as she could. She was an ever presence everywhere she went and to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Hancock Assembly of God, 431 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Hancock, MD 21750.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 1:00p.m. with two-hour prior visitation at Hancock Assembly of God. Pastor Kaleb Trail will officiate. Interment will follow at Stone Bridge Church, Hancock, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to help defray funeral costs. They can be sent to Dwayne and Kathy Funk at 8736 Corner Road, Hancock, MD 21750.
