Helen Le Vesta Mason Barnhart, age 90, of Hancock, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

Born March 25, 1922 at Berkeley Springs, W.Va., to the late Rumsey C. Mason and Hazel Yonker Coffin, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Barnhart, Sr., whom she married on November 11, 1942, and who died on November 19, 1998.

She graduated from Hancock High School in 1941. In her early years, she worked at Montgomery Ward Mail Order Company; and the Bendix Radio Aviation Corporation as an inspector, both in Baltimore, Md. In her later years she was a retail clerk in Hancock stores.

She was a member of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, in Hancock.

She is survived by a son, Robert J. Barnhart, Jr. and wife, Faye; a daughter, Sylvia Moats and husband, Eddie; five grandchildren, Robbie Barnhart and wife, Cindy, Chera Van Meter and husband, Ronnie, Rachele Orndorff and fiancée, Corey True, Crystal Stotler and husband, Ben, Heidi Gaither and significant other, Chris Dibble; and seven great-grandchildren, Joel Barnhart, Shawn Barnhart, Aaron Van Meter, Allyson Van Meter, Kaydence Gaither, Aaliyah Orndorff and Isabelle Stotler.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Mason; and a great-grandson, Hunter Van Meter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 2 East High Street, Hancock, Md. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to the Memorial service.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Md. 21742, or to St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, at the above address.

Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home Hancock, Md.
