Harriet K. McBee (KuyKendall), age 98, of Fredonia, N.Y., formerly of Hancock, Md., died Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Chautauqua County Home, in Dunkirk, N.Y., 9 days short of her 99th birthday.

Mrs. McBee was born June 26, 1914, in Keyser, W.Va., to the late William KuyKendall and Nannie Miller KuyKendall.

She graduated from Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) High School, and attended Rhode Island College.

On November 18, 1939 she married her husband, Ira G. "Mac" McBee. They were married 51 years, at the time of Mr. McBee's death, in May of 1991.

Mrs. McBee worked as a school secretary for the Hancock Elementary and Intermediate Schools from 1952 to 1976.

She was a member of the Hancock Presbyterian Church, in Hancock, the Washington County School Secretaries' Association, and was involved for many years with the Hancock Christmas Basket Program.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Peggy" (David) Tiffany, of Fredonia, N.Y.; her grandson, David (Michele) Tiffany Jr., of Greencastle, Pa.; her granddaughter, Katherine Tiffany (Martin Bogardus), of Clementon, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Sheena, Zachary, and Abigail Tiffany, of Greencastle, Pa.; a niece, Jane Lee Sachs, of Penfield, N.Y.; a nephew, John Charles KuyKendall, of Hanover, Pa.; and sister-in-law, Marian Lee KuyKendall, of Penfield, N.Y.

Besides her husband "Mac" McBee, and her parents, William and Nannie (Miller) KuyKendall, she was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte E. KuyKendall, and her brother, William J. KuyKendall.

Family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. (301-678-6178), on Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Carol A. Davis officiating. Interment will be in Johnson-Greenwell Cemetery, Reeses Mill, W.Va.

The family extends their deep gratitude to friends in Hancock, the caregivers at the W.C.A. Home in Fredonia, N.Y., and the Chautauqua County Home, in Dunkirk, N.Y., whose help and loving care eased Harriet's last few years.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, in Mrs. McBee's memory, may be made to the Hancock Presbyterian Church, 17 East Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750.
