Gerald N. “Buzzard” Golden, age 63, of Warfordsburg, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the War Memorial Hospital, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born April 22, 1949, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Jerry and Ida Gordon Golden.
He attended Southern Fulton High School, in Warfordsburg.
He was employed by Goodwill Industries, at the Sidling Hill rest area, in Hancock, Md. He previously worked at Truax’s Service Station, in Hancock; Golden Trucking Company; was a bus driver for Southern Fulton School District; and he helped on the family farm. He was a member of The Breezewood Veterans Canteen Association.
He is survived by six sisters, Margaret Mellott, Mary Gray, and Florence Ruppenthal, of Needmore, Pa., Opal Morse, of Everett, Pa., Barbara Young, of Breezewood, Pa., and Rachel Snyder, of Hancock; three brothers, George Golden, of Falling Waters, W.Va, Richard Golden, of Warfordsburg, and Tracy Golden, of Hancock; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Shaw, and Nancy McCarty; and two brothers, Raymond Golden, and Sylvester Golden.
A service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, at 2:00 p.m., at the Bethel Community Church, Bethel Church Road, in Warfordsburg. Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m.
