George Kelly Manning, Jr., age 91, of Hancock, Maryland passed away peacefully at Doey’s House surrounded by his family on Monday, September 14, 2026.
Born September 20, 1934, in Needmore, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late George (Doc) Kelly Manning, Sr. and Icy Fern (Hoyle) Manning.
George is survived by his five children: Vicky Rollins and Husband Larry, Kelly Manning, Lydia Manning, Jeff Manning and wife Lisa, all of Hancock, and Cindy Manning of Hagerstown, Maryland. He is survived by thirteen grandchildren: Adam Rollins of Greencastle, Pa., Tim Rollins of Hancock, Alura of Greencastle, Pa., Julie Bender, Dylan Keefer, Amber Wills all of Hancock, Wayne Keefer, Georgia Manning and Tanner Manning of Berkeley Springs, W. Va., Jerrett McCormick, William Boyer, Chesney Sydnor all of Hagerstown, and Levi Sydnor of Floral City, Florida. He is survived by eighteen great grandchildren, Sunni Schriver, Emma Schriver, Lincoln Bender, Leland Bender, Lillie Keefer, Blake Keefer, Alexis Canfield, Easton Bain, Marshall Bain, Baby Bryner on the way, Walker Manning, Dean Manning, Manse McCormick, Kinnon McCormick, Kase McCormick, Chance Boyer, Oliver Boyer, and John Sydnor.
He is preceded in death by his wife of over sixty years, Betty Christine Divel Manning, and Baby Lucas Boyer, one brother Winston Manning, and sisters Catherine Beatty, Virginia Beatty, Marry Mellott, Beulah Fearnow, Violet Trittipoe, Velma Vibbert, and Barbara Manning.
George retired from Mack Truck in Hagerstown. He served in the Army and Army Reserves. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building bird houses, and hunting arrowheads. He was a member of the Hilltop Chirstian Fellowship, Clear Spring, Maryland. George spent his final five months at Brookdale Assisted Living and referred to it as “home”.
Funeral services will be held at Hilltop Christian Fellowship, 12624 Trinity Church Drive, Clear Spring, Maryland with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 21, 2026. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road in Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania. Pastors John and Melissa Miller will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doey’s House by Hospice of Washington County, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742.
Arrangements were handled by the Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home in Hancock, Maryland.
