George MacAllister “Mac” Elser, age 66, of Hancock, died on Friday, September 16, 2016, as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle accident.
Born September 27, 1949, in Prince Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Harold J. and Marion MacAllister Elser, and the life companion of Valerie K. Repsher, of Hancock.
He was a member of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, where he served as a Vestry member.
He received a BA degree in English from Frostburg University, in Frostburg Md.
He was a member of the Hancock Historical Society, and a Civil War buff, and he spent time with a metal detector searching for Civil War relics.
Besides his companion, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Elser, of Bedford, Va., and Theodore Elser and wife, Alana, of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Theodore Elser and his significant other, Elizabeth Hale, of Edgewater, Md.; one sister, Louise E. King and husband, David, of Homestead, Fl.; a step-daughter, Brooke Tusing and husband, Christopher, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; granddaughters, Margaret MacAllister Elser, Marion Elser, Autumn Tusing, and Morgan Tusing; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 2 East High Street, Hancock. Rev F. Allan Weatherholt will be officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 2 East High Street, Hancock, Md. 21750
Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
