Gary Hensley, Sr.

Hancock, Maryland

Gary Wayne Hensley, Sr., age 58, of Hancock, Md., died on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md., surrounded by his family.

Born July 12, 1956, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Herbert Hensley, and Kenneth and Mary Shoemaker Hill.

He was a 1974 graduate of Hancock High School, and was a member of Orchard Ridge First Church of God, in  Hancock.

He was employed as a leadman with the former Fleetwood Industries, in Hancock; and he delivered newspapers for 40 years, in the area.

He was a member of the American Legion Webster B. Harrison Post #26, and a member of the Tonoloway Rod & Gun Club, both in Hancock, and he was a member of the Redman Club Tribe 84, in Williamsport, Md. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking, and he loved to share his cooking.

He is survived by one son, Gary Wayne Hensley, Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Wendy Dawn Hensley and fiance, Mick, of Williamsport, Md.; three sisters, Donna Kay Weller and husband, Allen, of Warfordsburg, Pa., Brenda L. Morris and husband, Ron, of Hagerstown, Md., and Cathy A. Nester and husband, Keith, of Keyser, W.Va.; a step-brother, Nicholas C. Hill and wife, Nancy, of Clear Spring, Md.; and four grandchildren, Tyler C. Byers, Colby A. Byers, Sami M. Hensley and Jim E. Christopher.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger L. Hensley.

A celebration of his life, with a gathering of family and friends, will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Hancock American Legion, 240 East Main Street, Hancock, Md.

The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the UMMS Foundation, Inc., Liver Transplant, 110 South Paca Street, Baltimore, Md. 21201
