Gladys Faye Fields, 80, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2014, at the Lely Palms Manor Care Nursing Home, in Naples, Fl.

Born on Thursday, April 5, 1934, in Boone, Iowa, she was the fifth daughter and seventh of eight children of Jess and Emma Burton.

She was a graduate of Jordan Consolidated School, Jordan, Iowa, class of 1952.

She spent her life devoted to her husband, sons, and grandchildren.

She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir and was Church secretary in the early 1960’s.

For many years, she and her husband were members of the Fountain Head Country Club.

She worked for the accounting firms of Main Hurdman, Bachtell & Company, as well as Albright, Crumbacker, Moul & Itell. In addition, she was a licensed realtor. She was an avid gardner and loved animals.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Franklin E. “Bud” Fields, 95; two sons, Frank E. Fields and wife, Jamie, of Montgomery, Al., Christopher M. Fields and wife, Jodi, of Sciota, Pa.; step-daughters, Martha Drew Minton and husband, Jerry, of Fort Worth, Tx., and Marjorie Fields Ewertz and husband, Erik, of Reisterstown, Md.; four grandchildren, Matthew, Nolan, Trevor and Gracie; two step-grandchildren, Jon and Amy; sisters Hazel, Marie and Esther; and her dog Benji.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers Keith, Paul, and Jess; sister Maxine; and granddaughter Ella.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 3:30 p.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 South Prospect Street, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ann Boyd officiating. The Interment will be private with the family, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church cemetery, in Hancock, Md., with the Rev. Alan Weatherholt officiating.
