Edward Elwood Barnhart, Sr., age 72, of Needmore, Pa., died on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his home.
Born June 6, 1944, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of the late Harry I. and Esther (Younker) Barnhart.
He was a 1962 graduate of Hancock High School.
He was a member of the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, in Hancock.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and he retired from Mack Trucks, Inc., in Hagerstown, Md. where he had been a block miller.
He was a member of The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He is survived by a special friend, Brenda Verno, of St. Thomas, Pa.; three sons, Edward E. Barnhart, Jr and wife, Stacy, of Needmore, Pa., Barry Knable and Michael Todd Myers, both of Hancock; a daughter, Audrey M. Barnhart and significant other, Justin Shaffer, of Hancock; a sister, Janice Fink, Hancock; one brother, LeRoy Barnhart, of Hancock; and four grandchildren, LeAngel Barnhart, Gaven Barnhart, Brent Barnhart and Jayden Rhodes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard and Otto Barnhart.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 1, 2017, from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Jeffrey Hawbaker officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will follow in the Orchard Ridge First Church of God Cemetery.
The family requests contributions, in his name, may be made to the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750, to help defray expenses.
