Edith Elizabeth Gloyd, age 92, of Warfordsburg, Pa., died on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Williamsport Retirement Center, in Williamsport, Md.

Born May 12, 1925, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late George A. and Pearl (Breakall) Caldwell, and she was the widow of Perry Gloyd.

She was a graduate of Hancock High School.

She served in the Women’s Army Corp. during World War ll, and also served at the U.S. Pentagon.

She was a member of the Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship, in Cearfoss, Md.

She loved working on her arts and crafts, painting and bowling.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Gloyd, of Warfordsburg; one son, Joe Gloyd and his wife, Carolyn, of Myrtle Beach, SC.; two sisters, Ruth Bush, of Oregon, and Francis Younker, of Hancock;  two granddaughters, Michele Wheeler, of Roanoke, Va., and April Messimer, of Myrtle Beach, SC.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

There will be a gathering of friends and relatives at the Grove funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Friday, July 14, 2017, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Glenn Young officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, Pa., 17267.
