Dorothy Pekny

Dorothy Vernon Van Dalsem Pekny, age 97 of Hancock, MD, died Friday August 30, 2013 at Devlin Manor in Cumberland, MD.

Born December 18, 1915 in Allegany County, Stowe Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late G.A. and Effie May Hassan Van Dalsem and the widow of Joseph Pekny who died July 13, 1988.

She is survived by one son, Joseph E. Pekny and his wife, Jeanne M. Pekny of College Park, MD and their children, Jenifer L. Broadwater of Glenn Dale, MD, Christopher Pekny of College Park, MD among many church family and friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Effie Mae Wright; one granddaughter, Carla Ann  Wright; one sister, Gladys Mae Crawford; two brothers, Scott Van Dalsem and Thomas Van Dalsem.

A Memorial Service was held at the 7 ^th Day Adventist Church in Berkeley Springs, WV, on Sunday, September 15, at 1:00 p.m.

Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, MD.
