Dennis Eugene Swain, age 57, of Hancock, died on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born November 18, 1956, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late James W. and Margaret Eileen Bishop Swain.

He was a 1974 graduate of Hancock High School.

He had previously been employed with JLG Industries as a machine operator.

He was a member of the Grace Christian Fellowship Church, in Hancock. Dennis served his community and his church.

He was very active with the Pen Mar Jaycees, and was a past president; and he was a member of the Round Top Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camping.

He is survived by two daughters, Beth Keidel and husband, George, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Deidre Omps and husband, Allen, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one grandson, Roman Eugene; four sisters; Pamela Smith and husband, Greg, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., Starla Ward and husband, Jim, of Hagerstown, Md., Tina Thomas, of Hancock, and Sherri Kratz and husband, Bill, of Hancock; a number of nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

Besides his loving parents  he was preceded in death by one nephew, Tommy Kratz.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Grace Christian Fellowship, in Hancock, on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Ed Guyer will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.

There will also be a gathering of family and friends following the service at the church.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dennis’ name, may be made to Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 130 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock, Md. 21750, or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Va. 22312

Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md.
