David Allen Reed, 62, Hancock, MD., passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at his home.
Born May 31, 1959, in Hagerstown, MD., he was the son of the late Robert Reed and Gladys Jo McIntyre Reed Reuter and the husband of Jenny M. Bishop Reed, whom he married on August 21, 1982.
He was a 1977 graduate of Hancock High School.
He was a Correctional Officer and retired in 2019, after 35 years of service.
He loved to fish and hunt, especially turkey and deer. He enjoyed summer floats on the river with friends.
He loved his kids and grandchildren and always cheered them on at their sporting events.
He was a member of Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church and a Leader of Boy Scout Troop 15.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, D. Scott Reed, and wife Cajan, Warfordsburg, PA., and Cody A. Reed, Berkeley Springs, WV.; three grandchildren, Litton, Lalei, and Lena; one brother, Rob Reed, and wife Kathy, Little Orleans, MD.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 7, 2022, 10 am-12 pm, at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock, MD. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Pastor Bill Croteau will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in David’s name to the ALS Association, 30W. Gude Drive, Suite 150, Rockville, MD 20850, or 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002.
