David Allen Potter, age 49, died on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at his home.

Born April 21, 1966, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Cecil and Ina May (Dyer) Potter, of Hancock, and the husband of Rebecca M. (Kirkey) Potter, of Muskegon, Mi.

He was a member of the Hancock Assembly of God Church.

He was a 1985 graduate of Hancock High School, and he was retired from the Washington County Water and Sewer Department.

David loved sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles and the Ravens. He volunteered as a coach for football, track, and cheerleading at several local high schools.

Besides his parents and wife, he is survived by a b rother, Stanley Potter and wife, Denise, of Hancock; two nephews; and one niece.

He had two dogs Scooby Doo and Shaggy, whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock Assembly of God Church. Rev. Don Preston will officiate. Burial will follow in the Parkhead Cemetery, Pectonville Road, Big Pool, Md.

The family will receive friends at the Hancock Assembly of God Church, 431 North Pennsylvania Ave., on Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m., and at the Church, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday.

There will be a gathering of family and friends following the services, in the Hancock Assembly of God fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name, may be made to the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., to help defray funeral expenses.
