David Keith Hixon, 75, of Warfordsburg, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012, with his family by his side.

He was born May 11, 1937, in Buck Valley, Fulton County, Pa. He was the son of the late Clive and Lily Ritz Hixon, and the husband of Ethel Pedrick Hixon, whom he married on June 24, 1967.

He was a member of Buck Valley Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kathryn (wife of Scott) Dunklebarger, of Warfordsburg, Janet (wife of Gene) Dixon, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Amy (wife of Josh) Wagner, of Camp Hill, Pa. He is also survived by his sister, Kathryn Robinette, of Dundalk, Md.; brother, Kenneth Hixon, of Warfordsburg; and five grandchildren, Tobin Dunklebarger, Karis and Keith Dixon, and Nolan and Brayden Wagner.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Hixon.

He graduated from Southern Fulton High School in 1954, and Penn State University in 1958. He served in the Army Reserve from 1959 to 1965. He taught school in Rising Sun, Md., Hancock, Md., and the Fairview School in Amaranth, Pa. He was the co-owner and operator, with his brother Kenneth, of Ritz Brothers Store in Buck Valley. He enjoyed farming, bluegrass music, and travel.

Funeral services will be held at Buck Valley Christian Church, on Monday, August 13, at 11 a.m., with visitation on Sunday, August 12, at the Church, from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at the Buck Valley Christian Church Cemetery. Rev. Scott Gibbs will officiate.
