David Daniel Dere, Jr., age 54, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away at the Winchester Medical Center, in Winchester, Va., on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.
Born October 15, 1964, at the Clark Air Force Base, on Luzon Island in the Philippines, he was the son of David D., Sr. and Mildred D. (Creek) Dere, of Warfordsburg; and the husband of Darlette (Hoffman) Dere.
He was a 1982 graduate of Southern Fulton High School, in Warfordsburg.
He had formerly been employed with L. W. Wolfe Enterprises; Jeter Paving Company; Rayloc; and Malone Trucking.
He was of the Episcopal faith.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Dianna M. Courtney and her husband, Shawn, of Needmore, Pa.; a son, David D. Dere, III and his wife, Tonda, of Warfordsburg; three step-children, Leonard, Lindsay, and Troy Donahue, all of Hancock, Md.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Steven Dere, of Warfordsburg; two sisters, Tina Smartt and her husband, Chris, of Needmore, and Susie Trainor and her husband, Rick, of Warfordsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Monday, March 4, 2019, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be on a later date, at the convenience of the family.
