Daniel (Danny) Elwood Lanehart, age 56, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, December 5, 2011 in Pensacola, Fl.

Born September  15, 1955, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late George Elmer and Beverly Elizabeth Carnell Lanehart.

He was a 1973 graduate of Southern Fulton High School in Warfordsburg, Pa. He attended Hagerstown Junior College, and received his LPN from James Rumsey Technical Institute.

He was employed by the Potomac Center DHMH State of Maryland for 20 years. Earlier in his life, he and his family operated Lanehart’s and Son General Store in Dott, Pa.

He was a Catholic by faith, and a Legacy member of the Masons.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching birds in the backyard, and sports.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Billie (B.J.) Lanehart, whom he married July 24, 1987; mother-in-law, Anna Jo Vincill, of Pensacola, Fl.; god-daughter, Leanne Snow and husband, Paul, of Smithsburg, Md.; step-children, Erik Gray, of Kernersville, N.C., Matthew Abernathy, of Tavares, Fl.; step-granddaughters, Kayla Gray, of Kernesville, Fl., and Mackenzie McEuen, of Akron, Oh.; sister-in-law, Dr. Susan McCord, RMCM and husband, RMCM SS,  Bill, of Pensacola, Fl.; brother-in-law, EMCM SS retired, James Vincill and wife, Dr. Jan Sikes Vincill, of Palestine, Tx.; cousins, Sara Keiffer, and Conrad Carnell.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 19, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock Md.

The family requests that memorial contributions may be made, in Danny’s name, to your local SPCA.
